Cavalier Galleries
405 Greenwich Avenue,
Greenwich, CT 06830
http://www.cavaliergalleries.com/
Gallery owner Ron Cavalier’s passion for art began the first time he visited the Hirshhorn estate in Greenwich, Connecticut some 34 years ago. His father, whose art foundry had been serving the art world since the late 1950s, restored the sculpture at the Hirshhorn estate prior to the collection being delivered to the Smithsonian Institution’s new art museum, The Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden, on the mall in Washington, D.C. It was Ron’s numerous visits to the Hirshhorn home, and the subsequent study of this immense collection that includes important examples of virtually every major painter from 1870- 1970 including John Singer Sargent, Winslow Homer, Albert Bierstadt, Pablo Picasso, William De Kooning, Jackson Pollock, Edward Hopper and Jasper Johns, that led to his diverse interest in art. Over the past two decades, Cavalier Gallery has developed relationships with a world-class group of painters, sculptors and photographers. Works by the artists represented by Cavalier Galleries Inc today, collectively, have either been exhibited at or are in the permanent collections of most major museums in the United States, Europe and Asia.

Dr. Dennis Downey and Julie Downey have owned and operated this family business for over 23 years, developing an unprecedented collection of international artists unrivaled in the Southwest. With two locations and over 5,000 square feet, they represent more than 40 artists, including Russian master Nikolai Blokhin (exclusively), along with the great plein air painter Andre Shirokov, and world renowned Spanish painter Roman Frances and newly acquired Italian realist Licio Passon. Dennis Downey, a well respected artist in his own right, paints scenes from the West as well as his travels throughout Europe. They also represent a collection of fine bronzes by nationally known James-Menzel Joseph, Sandra Filippucci and Leroy Transfield. The second location at 112 W. San Francisco St. is just off the Plaza.
