I was inspired by this intense impression I had of a hillside garden, and sought to bring this to life. My Indian heritage has played a profound role in my development as an artist and in informing the choices I make stylistically; always surrounded by intricate beadwork on sculptures and clothing and painting, and this piece is a reflection of that intersection. This particular piece has been desired by multiple collectors, (and has resulted in commissioned paintings), and I have been offered the opportunity to showcase my art on a billboard in Times Square (coming this fall), and have an artists’ book being published, which will be a part of MOMA’s collection (with Franklin Furnace) among other projects coming up.
